View Full Version : Apple Iphone 3G - Need Opinions
I've been contracted to O2 for 5 years in a week, and they phoned me asking me if I wanted the Apple iPhone 3G 16GB for free (I know, amazing) as a loyalty bonus.
I've never used an iPod, I always use my Samsung phones with a memory card for music so the iPhone seems a good thing, but I dunno anyone with one so I've no reviews to go by.
Anyone got one?
How good are they?
Do I need to use iTunes or can I upload music straight from my PC?
These are all vital questions before I decide.... HELP?
I havent got one but there supposed to be really good. =) except it even if its **** =D I except most freebies except leaflets. anyway id jump at the chance of getting 1 for free
I have an iPhone 3G 16Gb ^^
Its an expensive contract well mine is anyway
£42.30 per/m and thats
500 Texts
600 Minutes (10 Hours)
They are good but if your likely to drop it either do not get one or buy a case, im yet to buy a case and have had mine for 4 months almost 5 although i know a friend who has one and dropped theirs and it went into a million pieces.
To upload music you do need iTunes although it is fairly simple and iTunes also has applications like games and funky things on there available too, free or purcashable ones.
When it is on iTunes it also updates the software on your iPhone so its always being updated if needed.
You can just like a iPod touch put movies on it and on mine i have 0 songs and a fair few movies such as
Black Hawk Down (2:23:04)
The Happening (1:30:24)
I Am Ledgend (1:40:28)
Iron Man (2:05:58)
Wanted (1:49:52)
XXX (2:04:03)
And guess what, not even half way full.
Battery is a pain the arse, never keep Wifi on but you can always access the internet aslong as you got signal. There is no video camera unless you have to buy the application im yet to find out and also its a pain to set your ring tone as a music song
Camera is really good but crap in the dark, i can upload some photos if you like to show you the quality.
I hope this helps a bit :D

Cheers man, thats about all I needed to know.
Don't think I'm going for it cos they said I need to upgrade to the iTunes tariff and even though I get the bigass phone for free the tariff is double what I pay monthly now :)
So I went for the Bang & Olufsen Samsung Soul music phone, which is the top of the range one and I get to keep my same tariff.
No worries and that is a very nice phone you have decided on :)
iPhone is amazing, and your tarriff must be wrong.
its 1200 minutes and 500 texts.. Its the best phone I have ever had, get it!

Insurance is there too
+ £7.30 from £35 = £42.30
i thought insurance was £7.50??
Well I got a great tariff 5 years ago and they don't offer it now so if I change it, I never get it back so I've always been reluctant.
1000 texts, 1000 minutes anytime for £17.50 + £5 insurance cover.
and I get a free phone every January.
I got my Soul in today and I don't regret it - I've never heard sound like this on a phone, with the headphones in it's unbelievable!
had one since they were released ;p! (the 2g then got the 3g when that was released)
They are amazing phones and i belive the only touch screen phone with a graphic accelerator in it.
there supposed to be really good.
so ye id get it!
;)!!

There's still not a phone out at the moment that I think beats it. Granted the cameras **** but I don't use my phone for taking pics THATS WHAT SLR IS FOR. Yeah get it. I love it. And depending on whether you have it jailbroken you can customize EVERY SINGLE PART of it. Which for me is a massive selling point ... Obviously.
i think the only bad thing about it....is the battery life....it just doesn't suite me one bit
....everything else is great....the battery lets me down that's all. It can't handle my usage!!
