Tottenham Hotspur have appointed former Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp as their new manager after sacking Juande Ramos late on Saturday night.

Spurs have agreed a compensation package of £5m with Portsmouth, according to the 61-year-old Redknapp.
Tottenham also axed sporting director Damien Comolli and first-team coaches Gus Poyet and Marcos Alvarez following their worst start to a season.
"It's a big opportunity to manage a big club before I retire," said Redknapp.
In a brief statement on his personal website, former Sevilla boss Ramos said: "The results are what counts in football and we all know how this world works.
"Now we just have to see if this decision is the best one for the team to recover and have a good season."
Redknapp plans to be at White Hart Lane on Sunday to address the players before they take on Bolton, with development squad coach, Clive Allen, and youth team manager, Alex Inglethorpe, officially in charge for the match.

Spurs are four points adrift at the bottom of the Premier League after taking just two points from eight matches this season. They also lost to Udinese in the Uefa Cup on Thursday.

About time Spurs got rid of Ramos. He was a laughing stock even the papers published jokes sent in my Spurs's fans to show how dreadful they are. If anyone can sort out the team its Redknapp.

Although I think he's only left Portsmouth because they might be one of the clubs going bankrupt. Its either Pompey got rid of the manager or sold their big stars (which they couldn't do).

I wouldnt trust Redknapp as far as I could throw him. Thats twice he's just left his side. He came back and said 'I'm back for good' only to leave again. Oh dear, but after the win against Bolton, looks like he's gonna do a good job, I guess.

My home town, Grimsby, are the only team in The Football League and Premiership without a win this season :(

gutted for grimsby looooooooooooool
and he hasn't just "left his side".
pompey got offered good money for redknapp, £5 million can go towards buying a quality player or finances towards a new stadium.
me and my uncle believe that pompey are close to bankrupt due to this "credit crunch" thing and they either sell their quality players or the manager.

I guess not he hasnt just left the side but I am disappointed he has left Pompey again, they must feel a bit mad again, despite the bakrupt situation.

And, yes, poor Grimsby :(
