i remember the boy band VS, because i loved their No7 hit song 'Love You Like Mad'
but i had no idea that Marvin (shown auditioning with his NEW? wannabe boy band, JLS on the first audition show last saturday)
found out today by reading The Sun newspaper, here is the report.
AN X Factor boyband wannabe is already a boyband has-been — in a group put together by ex-Blue star Simon Webbe.
Marvin Humes, 24, wowed judges with new crew JLS by belting out Boyz II Men hit If I Ever on Saturday’s auditions.
But we can reveal the singer was in R&B group VS, who were put together by Webbe and had a No7 hit in February 2004 with single Love You Like Mad.
They also had a No11 and No29 before being dropped the following year.
Marvin had handed Webbe, 29, a demo at a footie match in 2003, and the ex-Blue singer was so impressed he put together the rest of the five-piece and acted as their manager.
Even then Marvin was not an unknown. He was in BBC1’s Holby City as tear-away Robbie Waring from 2000 to 2003.
When he sang on X Factor with childhood pals JB Gill, Oritse Williams and Aston Merrygold as JLS, judge Cheryl Cole raved: “I love you! I think the industry is missing a boyband and you rule.”
Contestants are allowed to have had previous record deals but not a current contract or manager.
Last night a show source said: “This all just shows how determined Marvin is to make it in music — and he stands a good chance.”
i actually generally like their sound, we doooo need a new boy band in the music industry tbh.
